Background
The Centrehas its headquarters at the University of São Paulo and will be directed by the School of Nursing and by the School of Public Health, in partnership with the University Hospital of the University of São Paulo.

The Brazilian Centre represents the efforts of these three units to promote evidence-based health care aimed at professionals who work in research, teaching, assistance, and management, policy makers, and health system users. The Brazilian Centre intends to spread throughout the Brazilian territory the perspective that the use of the best evidence to inform decisions in clinical, managerial and public policies areas is essential for an effective health care program. Strong academic leadership in preparing health professionals; testified capability to conduct research and to prepare researchers; and the partnership with health institutions and health governmental organizations are the basis for the Brazilian Centre work.



 
     
   
 
Centre Objectives
  • Promote the evidence-based health care perspective throughout the Brazilian territory
  • Facilitate communication among professionals, institutions, organizations, and health system users about evidence-based health care
  • Foster qualification of health professionals (clinicians, managers, and policy makers) in evidence-based health care
  • Facilitate the access of Brazilian professionals, students, and health users to resources for production, synthesis, transference and use of evidence
  • Promote knowledge on evidence-based health care
  • Promote the development of primary research, based on gaps identified by systematic reviews
  • Participate in Collaborating activities of the Joanna Briggs Institute
  • Support national and international initiatives to promote the evidence-based health care
