Reading 8
Now turn to Reading 10 - the CSRTP Module 4 Study Guide - and read through the whole study guide (Sessions 1 – 11); then turn to the Power Points for Sessions 1 - 11 and work through them.

You will note that some complex concepts surrounding qualitative synthesis require clear explanations. It is important that trainers are familiar with these concepts and are able to explain them when CSRTP participants seek clarification. At this point in the course, you need to spend some time investigating these concepts fully.

Activity 8
Now set aside some time to read Text 5: Synthesising Qualitative Evidence

Take detailed notes as you read.

This Module requires a great deal of background knowledge on the part of the trainer and this supporting Text is designed to provide this.

Activity 9
Now work through Group Work 2 and 3 in Reading 11: The CSRTP Module 4 Workbook.

You will need to:
1. access the two papers - Chase S.K., Melloni M. & Savage A. (1997) A forever healing: the lived experience of venous ulcer disease. Journal of Vascular Nursing 15, 73–78 and Ebbeskog B. & Ekman S-L. (2001) Elderly persons’ experiences of living with venous leg ulcer: living in a dialectal relationship between freedom and imprisonment. Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences 15(3), 235–243;

2. log on to JBI-QARI for this activity; and

then follow the instructions set out in the Module 4 Workbook.

When you have completed Activity 9, you will – we hope - have thoroughly familiarized yourself with Module 4 of the CSRTP and be able to present any of the nine sessions in the Module in Part 2 of the Train-the-Trainer program.
