Background

We are excited to be one of four Centers in the United States and one of five in North America. The Joanna Briggs Institute of Oklahoma (JBIO) will be led by Center Director Susie Jones and Deputy Director April Merrill. JBIO, formerly known as  the Joanna Briggs Evidence Based Practice Institute of Oklahoma represents a new collaboration between INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center and JBI, University of Adelaide, Australia.

INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation for excellence in nursing services by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program.(r) A non-sectarian, voluntary, not-for-profit Oklahoma-owned hospital, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and is a member of the American Healthcare Organization Association. INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center has also been recognized by the Joint Commission for Disease Specific Certifications in Ventricular Assist device, Stroke, Advanced Inpatient Diabetes, and Hyperglycemia. Opened Easter Sunday 1959 as a 200-bed hospital, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center has grown to a 508-bed facility offering comprehensive health-care programs and services

The JBIO will seek to collaborate with multiple academic and clinical partners throughout the region.

Aims:

• Improve use and understanding of the best available evidence by healthcare providers and consumers  throughout the southwest region of the United States.
• Provide education on the performance of comprehensive systematic reviews of the literature in accordance  with the Joanna Briggs Institute Comprehensive Systematic Review Training program to healthcare providers  interested in such training.
• To perform comprehensive systematic reviews of the literature on topics that have relevance to the people  and the communities we serve where those reviews do not currently exist.
